Spring Session 1: April 4th - June 26th

This class will encourage students to move beyond the tricks and find ways to really perform on their apparatus. Each class will contain different creative exercises, both on the floor and in the air, that will challenge students to explore new ways of moving on their apparatus and in their own bodies. Themes such as tempo, shape, expansion/contraction, stillness, weight, and musicality may be explored. Some classes will include prompts for short sequence creation focused on movement, style, and expression, rather than tricks and skills. Guided improvisation exercises will be introduced slowly and in a supportive and encouraging environment so students feel comfortable learning how to take expressive risks. Students should leave class feeling energized and empowered, and with more tools for movement expression and sequence/act creation.
This class is for aerial students at a 301 level or higher, who feel comfortable sequencing basic skills on their apparatus for at least 2 minutes at a time. All apparatuses welcome!
